The Soldier
It is a sad story about a guy I met down in Croatia once who lost his whole family during the war. He wasn´t there when it happened ´cause he was out fighting for his country somewhere else. To honour his family he´s once a year carrying a large cross along the streets of his city. I´d like to dedicate this song to him and his family, wherever they are.
I tell my story
with a beer and whiskey.
Waving a bottle to make a point.
I tell my story
wrong and right.
Yeah, war is over not the fight.
I´m a soldier, no army by my side
Just a faded tattoo on my arm.
A chance in a million that I will win this war.
Oh no, Honey, I don´t think so”.
I´ve been waiting,
anticipating,
contemplating right or wrong.
Day and night
It´s worth the fight.
got nothing to loose
I just might.
You want me to change (h-ciss-d)
fill that emptiness in my heart (a-h)
I got nothing left to loose (a)
Except this lonely heart (ciss-h)
Just tell me what is wrong
I tell you what is right
I´ll keep on fighting this war, It´s war of loneliness
